On March 9, 2023, more than 5,000 people joined the 2023 virtual Great Big Crunch, with many eager classrooms and other school food champions biting into a fruit or vegetable to show their support for a healthy school food program for Canada!

Among the participants this year was the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development of Canada.

If you missed the event, you can watch the recording here:

You’ll also find a lot of great photos and buzz on Twitter with the #GreatBigCrunch hashtag.

If you weren’t able to make the virtual Crunch, there’s still time for you to participate and register your Great Big Crunch any time throughout March. Over 140,000 people have pledged to crunch with the Coalition for Healthy School Food!

Thanks to all who have helped make some big noise for a healthy school food program.

We also encourage you to check out this recent article in the Globe and Mail by Caroline Alphonso, highlighting the urgency of federal support for a national school food program.
