The Role of Local Food Systems in U.S. Farm Policy

A 2013 report put out by the Congressional Research Service that aims to draw attention to the importance of local food systems in American farm policy as Congress considers reauthorizing the 2008 farm bill. The report provides background information on local and regional food systems, outlines existing programs in support of local food systems and examine previously proposed legislation that aimed to increase support for food systems.
