Planning for Food-Friendly Municipalities in Waterloo Region

This report examines Waterloo’s efforts toward supporting local food systems and how current initiatives can be leveraged to advocate for more support of local food systems, specifically temporary farmers’ markets. The report highlights the potential for zoning by-laws, licensing by-laws and policy to have an impact on productive community food systems. Connections to public health initiatives are presented as a way of illustrating how food-friendly policies create holistic communities.
