Local Food Provision in Ontario’s Hospitals and Long-Term Care Facilities: Recommendations for Stakeholders

This report encompasses a set of recommendations for provincial ministries (eg OMAFRA), food suppliers (farmers), and healthcare personnel with the aim of creating an insttutional market for local foods, while increasing the number of local farms that grow food for the Ontario healthcare system. The report includes 7 key factors that should be considered of new policies and activities related to local food and the healthcare system, research studies are also included as evidence for the positive effect of local food in healthcare settings.
