Food Insecurity and Social Assistance

This fact sheet demonstrates food insecurity and social assistance in Canada as a serious public health problem. Statistics Canada has been monitoring food insecurity in 005 through the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS). This fact sheet will sho you how social assistance programs vary among provinces and territories and how food insecurity rates fluctuate from year to year. A chart will also demonstrate the proportion of households reliant on social assistance who were food insecure by province.
