Carbon in the Bank: Ontario’s Greenbelt and its role in mitigating climate change

This reports offers another argument to the justifications of pro- farmland preservation- that of carbon sequestration. The report highlights the role of natural capital in Ontario: forests, wetlands, and agricultural land, by presenting these resources through economic means, ultimately casting the Greenbelt as a mitigator for broader concerns of the population. When addressing long term use and conservation, the report recommends that policies should be revisited to protect and enhance natural capacities.
