Join the Indigenous School Food Circle for its March 26 webinar at 1pm ET – Advocating to the Federal Government for Investment in Indigenous School Food Programs.

This 1.5 hour event aims to share efforts made by organizations and individuals to advocate for federal funding for school food programs in First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities. The following speakers will share their experiences:

  • Melanie Bennett, Yukon First Nations Education Directorate
  • Leona Brown, Indigenous Advocate, Centre for Family Equity
  • Debbie Field, Coalition for Healthy School Food

After the presentations, there will be space for discussion about how anyone can promote federal investment in Indigenous school food programs. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas and/or their advocacy experience.

The Indigenous School Food Circle is an initiative co-hosted by the Coalition for Healthy School Food, Canadian Feed the Children and Farm to Cafeteria Canada that has been established to inform advocacy for funding for school food programs in Indigenous communities and for Indigenous students, and to support replication, networking and sharing of best practices among those who are coordinating and supporting school food programs in Indigenous communities and for Indigenous students.
