Consultations for a School Food Policy will close to new input this Friday, December 16, 2022.

Here are two things you can do:

1. Fill in the federal government’s questionnaire and/or write a letter from your organization

The Sustain Board has produced a draft letter for the federal School Food Policy program consultation, which the Board will submit this coming Friday, after final edits from our Ontario Edible Education Network.

We are sharing the draft letter to provide some information to assist organizations, schools, and individual residents across Indigenous Territories/Ontario to fill in the government consultation questionnaire.

The Sustain Board encourages all groups interested in accessible, healthy food for all children in schools to write a letter in addition to (or instead of) filling in the questionnaire, due to the questionnaire’s limitations.

2. Share out the following through your networks, newsletter, and social media

By this Friday, December 16, be part of ensuring a school food policy happens coast-to-coast-to-coast!

Here is the questionnaire link—as well as a letter from Sustain Ontario to learn more about the issues, and to assist in writing your own letter.

This is for:

  • Any organization whose work connects with the goals of accessible, healthy food for all children in school, community food resilience and/or community economic development
  • Households (especially those with children/grandchildren)
  • Schools and school partners, as there is a section for those who work in schools
