Harvest Hastings and Plainfield Heritage Farm are hosting a Stone Soup fundraiser in Belleville on Saturday, September 10, to support local food initiatives in Hastings County.

The event will offer farmers, local community groups and community folks the opportunity to seek funding to turn their ideas of local food initiatives into a reality.

There will be two awards — one for farmers and one for community folk. To enter prior to the event, you must write a single page telling Harvest Hastings about your idea. If your idea is selected, you will be given 5 minutes to speak to attendees at the Stone Soup event about why they should vote for you.

Event admission is $10 and 100% of the admission fee will be split between the two awards.

The projects are to be aimed at fostering local food, sustainable farming, food security, and/or food access. Ideas can be anything from local farm projects, community food initiatives to environmental projects.
