A recording is now available of the May 11th Knowledge Sharing Event on School Food Programs in Ontario, hosted by the Ontario Chapter of the Coalition for Healthy School Food (chaired by Sustain Ontario):

The event began with short presentations from organizations who shared different ways they are helping make sure that students have access to healthy food at school every day. Participants then broke out into small groups to discuss a wide range of relevant topics.

Presenters included:

  • Luisa Magalhaes (Peterborough Public Health) – School Food Boxes to Student Nutrition Programs in Peterborough and County
  • Danielle Findlay (Ontario Student Nutrition Program Southwest Region) – Student Advisory Committee and Student Ambassador program
  • Growing Chefs! Ontario – The Beet Café
  • Chris Peacock (The Sharing Place Food Centre, Orillia) – ecommerce platform and the purchasing, packing and distribution process done at their facility
  • Coordinators of the National Coalition for Healthy School Food shared updates relating to the development of a school food program for Canada
