Farm Field Coordinator

  • Contract: mid-March – December 2022; potential for longer-term work
  • 40 hours/week average; evening or weekend work will be scheduled
  • Deadline: February 28, 2022. Recommend to apply early.
  • Wage: $2,725-2,950/month based on experience; small CSA share

Are you passionate about community and regenerative agriculture? Do you have greenhouse, vegetable growing and direct marketing skills? Are you a team player and leader? Do you thrive juggling diverse responsibilities, and keeping tasks on timeline with a dynamic and cooperative team?

Key activities include:

  • Lead and set pace for teams of interns, volunteers, and field workers to produce excellent quality organic crops
  • Grow, harvest & distribute quality crops, indoor and outdoor, per Organic and Food Safety protocols
  • Lead indoor production activities and training
  • Lead field production activities and training
  • Coordinate wash station and post-harvest handling
  • Coordinator crop distribution and sales – CSA, local businesses, markets, service agencies

Ignatius Farm Internship

  • Full-Season Contract: April 19 – November 18, 2022
  • Summer Contract: April 19 – August 31, 2022
  • Deadline: February 28, 2022

The Ignatius Farm Internship combines weekly education curriculum with hands‐on field work to develop skills and knowledge as a farm worker, and is the basis of your work in ecological agriculture or food system advocacy.   Interns work on the farm up to 44 hrs/week in addition to the 5-10 hrs of education programming each week.

Farm Associates (multiple positions)

  • Contract: May 2 – August 31, 2022
  • 40 hours/week average; evening or weekend work may be required
  • Deadline: March 9, 2022
  • Wage: $2,725/month; small CSA share

Key Activities include:

  • Lead teams of interns, volunteers, and field workers to grow excellent quality produce
  • Farm Associates leadership areas include – Field Lead, Field equipment (operations & machinery care), Berry production & U-Pick management, Indoor Production, Irrigation, Sales & crop distribution, Community programs (Gardens, Orchard, CSA pick-ups, Field Days), and Orchard care.
  • Plant, transplant, week, harvest, and clean vegetable per Organic and Food Safety protocols
  • Provide wonderful customer service for CSA, U-pick berries, and markets
  • utilize and maintain tools, equipment, and structures safely, according to training provided
  • Log activities and contribute to system improvements
  • Support farm training and community programs, seasonal events, media outreach

Summer Land Worker

Summer Land staff work directly with  permanent land staff and volunteers in a team-oriented environment to care for the non-agricultural land at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre.

 

Ignatius Farm, an integral part of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, is a community organic training farm. The farm grows certified organic produce for Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) members, farmers’ markets, local businesses and service agencies. Programs include community gardens, community orchard, acreage rentals, internships and farmer training, working shares, volunteer opportunities, and seasonal community events.
