The York Region Youth Food Committee (the youth-led division of the York Region Food Council) is hosting a two-part event, Empowering Youth Food Systems Leaders: UN Independent Dialogue, on Tuesday, July 13, and Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 6 – 8 p.m. ET.

The discussions will focus on food justice, sustainability in the food system, and the role of youth in the food system. Youth from York Region, the Greater Toronto Region and across Canada and beyond are invited.

The event page shares:

“Food systems today face plenty of challenges. From labour issues to food waste to hunger, there is a need to make food systems more innovative, inclusive, just, and sustainable. As young people we will inherit the future food system and therefore we, youth, play a critical role in transforming food systems. Join us in engaging youth who are passionate about agriculture, nutrition, education, and other food systems matters. In this youth-led dialogue we will discuss food systems issues and how we can support youth to be agents of change in food system transformation.”
