In conversations across the province this winter, we have heard near unanimous feedback that the promotion of access to local food was a main concern in 2020, and one of the priorities within each region for 2021. Many regions are updating, enhancing, launching or transitioning their Buy Local maps.

In an effort to support this activity, and as a one-stop spot for residents and visitors to connect to our food, Sustain Ontario, in partnership with Just Food, is launching the portal Buy Local Food Across Ontario, featuring regional Buy Local, Eat Local, Fresh, Farm Fresh, Harvest, Taste and Savour initiatives and food maps.

If you are a regional initiative that promotes increased demand for, purchase and use of food and beverage products that are grown, raised, and harvested within the local region, including products that are subsequently processed, contact us to be on this map. Regional initiatives include those that focus on a county, large municipality, district, territory, or multiple jurisdictions in a self-defined region.

Take a look at the website and if you know of or work with a regional initiative or map that isn’t yet included, please get in touch with info@sustainontario.com and include the name of the initiative, public link, and emails/phone numbers for two points of contact, where possible.

If you are already represented on the map, please know we will be sending out an email to you from info@sustainontario.com asking for your confirmation to be included on a supported listserv of others on this site. The purpose of the listserv is to provide a space that brings together folks to share ideas about what you’re doing in your region and what can be done together to remove barriers to regional food.
