Are you in Halton Region and interested to learn more about gardening?

Halton Food, Halton Environmental Network, Greening Sacred Spaces and Oakvillegreen are hosting a Halton Garden Week from February 20th – 27th for a week-long celebration of online spring and gardening workshops.

The free community event will offer a number of virtual presentations and workshops for participants to grow their food skills and learn about gardening, climate change and food waste.

The keynote speaker, Sean James, will present on Saturday, February 20, with a session titled, Looks Good Enough to Eat! Permaculture: Living off Your Land. This session will look at the basic principles of growing food on your own property, including creative and eco-friendly solutions for city yards.

Carolyn Webb, our Ontario Edible Education Network coordinator, will be hosting a session on Wednesday, February 24, Gardening Resources for Teachers! This session will share resources, ideas and experiences on how to connect children and youth with growing, cooking, celebrating and learning about healthy, local and sustainably-produced food.

Browse the full schedule on the Halton Garden Week website, and register for an all-access pass on Eventbrite.

Halton Garden Week is sponsored by the Oakville Horticultural Society, and inspired by Seeds of Diversity Canada.
