Sustain Ontario would like to send an immense thank you, kudos, and best wishes to Joanne Bays as she announces her departure from her pivotal role as Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC)’s National Director, having helped establish and lead the network over the last nine years.

Thanks to Joanne, what began as a dream over 10 years ago is now a growing pan-Canadian organization helping to transform regional and institutional food landscapes.

Joanne’s passion for increasing local, sustainable and healthy food in public institutions has resulted in powerful relationships and partnerships across all of Canada, that’ve helped grow and advance the farm to school movement across the country.

Over 37 organizations have invested in F2CC in the last decade and more than 5,000 members/followers have joined its e-platforms.

With Joanne’s leadership, F2CC fostered an instrumental partnership with the Whole Kids Foundation, which has provided salad bar grants of up to $10,000 to 91 schools (so far) in five provinces. Sustain Ontario has had the privilege of working closely with Joanne and F2CC in delivering the Ontario-based grants.

We have appreciated working with Joanne over the years and are so grateful for her passion, support and inspiration; her contributions to both Sustain Ontario’s farm to school efforts and Canada’s farm to school movement are invaluable.

We encourage you to learn more about Joanne’s legacy on the F2CC blog here, where you’ll also find links to a number of resources and evaluation tools that F2CC has developed with Joanne at the helm.

To get a glimpse of some of the meaningful impact Joanne has had through her work with F2CC, we would love for you to check out some salad bar grantee stories here.

We wish you well as you move on to your next adventures, Joanne!
