With the completion of the Roots to Harvest’s Forest Meets Farm project, Roots to Harvest has launched a Toolkit on their new Forest Meets Farm webpage for those interested in implementing a similar project!

With funding from the Greenbelt Fund, the pilot project designed, taught and evaluated a series of four hands-on and experiential workshops in four local Thunder Bay high schools that highlighted foraging, hunting & fishing, farming and preserving.

The first webinar on the Forest Meets Farm project, held on October 30, 2018, provided a project, curriculum and evaluation overview as well as some midpoint reflections.

The second webinar, held on December 6, 2018, offered more detailed evaluation findings and presented the Forest Meets Farm Recipe Book and Toolkit.  You can view a recording of the second webinar online here (and below).

You’ll hear in the webinar that the pilot project received great feedback from students, educators and partners — 92% of students who participated in the program felt that they learned new skills around preparing wild foraged and farmed foods.

The project Toolkit offers the program curriculum, recipes and evaluation tools and is available for download now: http://www.rootstoharvest.org/forest-meets-farm.html.

The project recipe book will be available for pre-order on the Roots to Harvest website soon, so stay tuned!
