The Toronto Food Policy Council (TFPC) is seeking 3-5 new members to add to their dynamic council of 30.

The TFPC seeks members with a combination of characteristics:

  • Ability to speak knowledgeably of the food system and to the food security needs of underserved and/or high needs groups
  • Ability to speak knowledgeably to the food security needs of a particular socio-economic and geographic area within the city
  • Deep knowledge in at least one area of the food system

The TFPC meets ten times a year on the second Wednesday of the month from 2 – 5 p.m. Members are expected to attend and participate in these meetings. Typically, members also provide active assistance in at least one project of the TFPC and join one of the TFPC’s committees.

If you are interested in applying to become a member, the TFPC asks you to please submit a short letter to tfpc@toronto.ca outlining what you can contribute to the TFPC, as well as your CV, before Friday, December 7, 2018.

The TFPC is the oldest food policy council in a major city in the world, and enjoys international respect. It functions as a subcommittee of the Toronto Board of Health and serves as the community reference group to the Toronto Food Strategy.
