Roots to Harvest is piloting an exciting Forest Meets Farm school food project, which will be shared with educators, public health professionals and others across Ontario in an upcoming two-part webinar series.

The first webinar will provide a project, curriculum and evaluation overview as well as some midpoint reflections. The second webinar will offer more detailed evaluation findings and the presentation of an adaptable Forest Meets Farm Recipe Book/Toolkit.

To register for these events:

1) Forest Meets Farm: An Overview and The Curriculum (Tuesday, October 30, 3:15 – 4:15 pm)

2) Forest Meets Farm: Evaluation Findings and Toolkit (Thursday, December 6, 3:15 – 4:15 pm)

From September to December 2018, the pilot project has students in four high schools across Thunder Bay exploring a variety of locally produced and wild foraged food sources in order to strengthen knowledge, skills and attitudes around their methods of production, harvesting, preparation and consumption.

The Forest Meets Farm curriculum consists of four modules (Foraging, Farming, Hunting & Fishing, and Preserving) along with culminating events at each school and for the broader public at Roots to Harvest.
