Halton Region and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs are a hosting a two-day Municipal Agriculture Economic Development & Planning Forum on October 18th and 19th, focusing on ‘What’s Possible and How to Create an Enabling Environment for Agriculture’.

The event is an opportunity for those involved in municipal and local economic development or planning who have agriculture and food (farming, food processing, agri-tourism, agri-business sector and agri-entrepreneurship) in their portfolio to network, share successes, experience agriculture in Halton Region, and learn about resources targeted to the agricultural sector.

Day 1 – a full day premium bus tour featuring visits to Chudleigh’s, Springridge Farm where a Ploughman’s lunch will be enjoyed, Terre Bleu Lavender Farm, and more. Enjoy a dinner by Fat Cat Catering and networking at Country Heritage Park.

Day 2 – a full day of speakers including: Agriculture as a Driver of the Economy by Rene VanAcker, Dean of Ontario Agriculture College, University of Guelph; Where are the Investments in Agriculture from Scotiabank agriculture banking specialist; Young and Farming, there is a new breed of farmer coming along and they mean business, presented by Andrew Campbell (Fresh Air Farmer); Panel discussion on Enabling Agriculture in Your Community, speakers from Middlesex, Halton and York; Resources to support agriculture sector including the new Agriculture as an Economic Development Opportunity; Speakers on the Incubation Agri-food Collaborative and Tactics to Increase Local Food Procurement.
