Form Fits Function: Governance Structures in Different Contexts

Food policy members and advocates will probe into the pressing and essential questions related to food policy groups. The discussion will explore the different governance structures in regards to urban, rural and mixed regions. Presenters, from food policy councils, will speak about what worked to influence change in their regions, how they govern themselves and the challenges/positive experiences they encounter.

Learning From Experience: How Food Policy Councils Create Change

Food policy councils and related bodies have proven effective change agents, embodying the ideal of upstream collaboration. Panelists representing a variety of rural and urban areas will dig deep into their lived experience of food policy councils advocating for change. Opportunity will be provided to reflect on what has been effective, lessons learned and ways to move forward collaboratively. In addition, differences between influencing food policy at the political level vs administrative and implementation level will be addressed.
