Who is Doing What in Local Food?

Eco-Ethonomics recently finished a Final Report titled, “Staying Informed About Local Food in South Central Ontario”. Please find the link to the full report at the bottom of this page. This report is for the South Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corporation (SCOR EDC). The SCOR EDC initiated the SCOR FoodHub, an online marketplace of locally grown and produced food for the institutional and food service buyer. This marketplace brings fresh, healthy, locally grown food to local institution buyers and lets local farmers showcase their products. The SCOR FoodHub identified an opportunity to develop a database/tool/resource that takes stock of “who is doing what” in regards to local food. This is where Eco-Ethonomics came in! They facilitated the process, conducted an environmental scan and informed recommendations.

Eco-Ethonomics project included an environmental scan to identify the national and international examples of online tools and resources, two participatory co-design sessions to develop the concept of “who is doing what” in the regional food system within Brant, Norfolk, Oxford, Middlesex and Elgin, as well as a funding and financial opportunities scan.

In this report, you will find information on interviews for the environmental scan, new ideas and key recommendations for collaboratively co-designing the database/tool/resource, funding opportunities for this new design and all the hard data within the appendices.
