Do you want to recognize someone who has brought local food literacy to an Ontario school / campus / preschool?
Nominate your Local School Food Champion (could be a teacher, farmer, student, parent, administrator, or any other role) and their name will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a ticket to Sustain Ontario’s Bring Food Home conference (October 26-29, 2017, in Ottawa). **Additional details about the prize will be posted soon. The ticket will be transferable, i.e. the prize winner can give it to someone else of their choice.**
The prize winner will be randomly drawn during Local Food Week and we will celebrate all of our Local School Food Champions via social media over the course of the week.
Deadline for nominations: 5:00 pm on Monday June 5th – the start of Ontario Local Food Week.
To nominate your #SchoolFoodChamp please fill out our nominations form below. To be submitted for the draw your nomination needs to include:
- A paragraph about why you’re nominating your Local School Food Champion.
- A photo of your champion or their school food efforts. Share this with us by including a link to a public social media post that includes your photo. Not on social media? That’s ok – forward your photo to cwebb@sustainontario.ca and we’ll share it for you!
- Permission for us to share the submitted paragraph and photo so that we can celebrate Ontario’s Local School Food Champions.
Sample Tweets if you want to share your nomination via Twitter:
- “Ms. Farmer, thanks for a year of bringing our class delicious local food! You’re our #SchoolFoodChamp. #loveONTfood.”
- “Kudos to Mr. Teacher – our #SchoolFoodChamp – for bringing the garden harvest to our school cafeteria!”
- “Our students are ready to learn because of their local food breakfast. Thanks Ms. Volunteer for your coordination! #SchoolFoodChamp”
