The Windsor Essex County Community Garden Collective is raising cash for the Windsor Youth Center (WYC) teaching garden on Seed Money, an innovative crowdfunding and granting platform for food garden projects, run by Maine-based Kitchen Gardeners International (KGI.org).  They are very close to reaching their $400 pledge goal, which is matched by a $400 Seed Money grant if the pledge goal is reached by December 16th! Check out the campaign on Seed Money. The money will be spent on seeds and soil for the community garden that will be used by local youth for daily suppers, canning workshops, urban agriculture training, and learning about the benefits of growing edible herbs and flowers.

Support youth in Windsor-Essex County by contributing to this campaign, and consider using this platform to raise support for your own food garden projects.* If you haven’t been to the new WYC, you’re invited to stop in and check out the space.

*Canadian garden projects are eligible for Seed Money grants, though they are less likely to be awarded than US projects. Raised funds are sent to projects in US dollars. Read more in the Seed Money FAQ under “Are there any geographic restrictions about which garden projects can apply?”
