The Bigger Picture: Lessons on Engaging and Empowering Youth in Promotion of Healthy Eating

Join the creators of the The Bigger Picture, a novel California-based campaign to raise awareness of Type 2 Diabetes, as they share about ways to effectively inspire, empower, and engage young people in the promotion of healthy eating. Drawing from the experiences of the  UCSF Centre for Vulnerable Populations at San Francisco Hospital and Trauma Center and Youth Speaks, you will learn how to launch an effective youth-focused campaign, including potential challenges, and innovative ways to engage youth through diverse multimedia platforms, including peer-to-peer communication, video public service announcements, and poetry.

Learning Objectives

  1. Provide an overview of The Bigger Picture campaign, including how it started, the impact, and future directions
  2. Share key learnings on starting and running an effective youth-led campaign targeted to youth
  3. Explore key strategies and tips on inspiring and engaging young people in the promotion of healthy eating
