Kids grow up fast, and we want them to grow up with a love for healthy, local food and the know-how to choose it and prepare it for themselves.
The Ontario Edible Education Network has been working hard with people across Ontario who are getting children and youth eating, growing, cooking, celebrating and learning about healthy, local food.
It’s been a good year for edible education in Ontario with an increase in support for Ontario’s Student Nutrition Programs, local celebrations of Canada’s first national Farm to School Month, and the inclusion of food literacy on the government’s agenda.
The Ontario Edible Education Network has worked to keep educators, food producers, advocates, and decision-makers connected and well-equipped with advocacy tools, teaching resources, project models, on-going mentorship and more. (Check out some of our latest Edible Education Profiles on leaders in the field.) But much work remains to be done.
We have big plans to move our vision of Edible Education forward – and we need your support to make it happen.
- Sign on with your support – This holiday season, we’re reaching out to you to help grow our Supporter Circle. Your donation will contribute important resources to help us stay connected, ensure stories of success are told and turn policy ideas into concrete actions that ensure a healthier future for Ontario’s children and youth.
- Grow our Network – We know there are champions in every community and we need your help to connect with them. Join us by committing to share our vision with five believers in your community – and let’s see how big we can grow! You can connect with us and fellow supporters on Facebook and Twitter too.
- Share your stories – The success of our movement is built on the incredible talent and experience of our members. We need your stories, your big ideas, thoughtful questions and visionary plans for the future of edible education. Send us an email with your edible education story – long or short! – to kids@sustainontario.ca.
