LORCWe are thrilled to announce that the Local Organic Food Co-ops Network (LOFCN) has received their requested grant from the Local Food Fund and will be proceeding with their Regional Food Hub Expansion Project for the Local Organic Food Co-ops Network.

In their press release, LOFCN explains that the grant will provide funding in a few key areas:

  •  A series of regional fora on local organic food co-operative development hosted by four regional co-operative lead organizations (True North Community Co-op in Thunder Bay; Eat Local Sudbury in Sudbury; On the Move Organics in London, and the Ottawa Valley Food Co-op in Pembroke)
  • Capacity expansion for regional food hubs through business planning, leadership, and governance training.
  • Redevelopment of the LOFCN’s business and strategic plan
  • Strengthening of regional food-based economies as ONFC continues to explore local sources of local foods for its private label brand.

We offer our congratulations to the LOFCN and look forward to the exciting new work they will be doing to develop resilient local food systems across the province.
