3P Mentorship programLocal Food Purchasing Webinar

The Power of the Dollar: Reaching a Critical Mass of Local Sustainable Food Purchasers
Wondering how the Local Food Act will affect your facility’s purchasing or why local food is important?  Join My Sustainable Canada and MEALsource, the Greenbelt’s 2012 Local Food Champions, for an interactive webinar that will explore current issues in the food system – from the introduction of the Local Food Act and the farm crisis to the fact that it can be frustratingly difficult to source local product – and how to overcome these barriers while also contributing to a more resilient local food system.  The webinar will offer case studies and best practices and is tailored to public sector facilities interested in learning more about or scaling up their local food purchasing.  Join the free webinar here.

The Power of the Dollar webinar will also introduce the Public Purse Procurement (3P) Mentorship Program.  The 3P Mentorship Program is a free, year-long leadership development program that will support four facilities from across the province to increase their local purchasing and help build a culture of sustainable procurement in their facilities and communities.  Details on the free 3P Mentorship Program are here. Application deadline is March 11, 2014. Follow the project on Twitter by searching the hashtag #3Pfood – see some highlights below!
