Position: Fundraising Event Coordinator

Part-time approximately 1 day/week January 2014 – end of Sept, 2014 (approx. 50 days total)
$20-$23/hr

We are seeking a creative and energetic person to lead the production of our two fundraising events in 2014, the McVean Farm Picnic (09/14/14, Brampton) and the Harvest Table at Landmark Farm (Date TBD, Hamilton). The Fundraising Event Coordinator will manage all aspects of coordinating the events including, sponsorships, advertising, food and entertainment, volunteers, and site management.  The Fundraising Event Coordinator will work closely with the FarmStart Executive Director and staff team and must be able to attend regular meetings in Guelph.

This part time position starts January 2014 for approximately one day per week until end of September 2014.  The week prior to and following each event will likely require an increased time commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing overall event plans and budgets
  • Working with FarmStart staff to develop appropriate communication materials
  • Developing and executing and event communications plan
  • Seeking sponsorships
  • Advertising
  • Managing relationships with chefs, farmer, and suppliers
  • Liaising with partner organizations
  • Managing Permits and permissions
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Site set-up, coordination, and management
  • Securing and managing entertainment (e.g., musicians and equipment)
  • Keeping appropriate records

Requirements:

  • Event and Project Management Experience
  • Budgeting
  • Fundraising Experience
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Commitment to representing FarmStart accurately and appropriately
  • Should have own phone, computer, and transportation.
