A full description of the event (see previous link for original source) from Food Secure Canada:

Two years ago, Food Secure Canada launched Resetting the Table: A People’s Food Policy for Canada.  Together with food leaders across the country, we held kitchen table talks with over 3500 Canadians about policies needed to ensure healthy, safe, sustainable food for all.

More recently, the Canadian food industry, under the auspices of the Conference Board of Canada, has been developing a National Food Strategy and they are holding an exclusive Food Summit in Toronto 9-10 April.

We think a worthwhile National Food Policy needs to address hunger, fisheries, Indigenous and labour rights, children, local food, Northern issues and more.  Don’t you? In fact, much of our vision of a democratic food governance in Canada is encapsulted in the 10th and final discussion paper of Resetting the Table entitled Food Democracy and Governance.

On April 8th, we’ll broaden the conversation about a National Food Policy.  We want to ensure that everyone is heard. Read FSC’s backgrounder document on the Conference Board of Canada’s consultation process and the need for a democratic national food strategy.
