The Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario is presenting an Essentials to Ecological Agriculture Course on April 6th & 7th, 2013.

This “how to farm course” will introduce farmers to the principles of ecological farming, and provide them with practical advice on how to incorporate these “green” production practices & techniques on their farm.

Over two days the course will provide you with an in-depth look at ecological farming. If you are currently farming it will help you focus on areas which need improvement.  If you are new to farming this course gives you a broad overview of everything you need to know, help you plan your future farm, and help you identify next steps.

The “Essentials” course will cover everything from soil biology and fertility, basic field crop rotation and weed control, to livestock husbandry, and manure management. The instructors are two lifelong farmers, Ann Slater and Chris Lister, both of whom operate successful ecological farm businesses.

When: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 – Sunday, April 7.

Where: The Assembly Hall, 1 Colonel Samuel Samuel Park Dr (Kipling ave & Lakeshore Blvd West)

Course fee: $100 for EFAO members, $150 for non members.

For more information or to register online visit the EFAO website, or contact Karen Maitland,  info@efao.ca, (519) 822-8606.
