UPDATE (January 10, 2013): Please share this campaign with your networks now. It’s important to spread the word and get signatures before January 20th, when the Chicken Farmers on Ontario have the opportunity to respond to the request for a 2000 bird exemption. While this isn’t the only “flocking option” that we want to promote, it’s one that’s on the table right now and this is an opportunity to let the CFO know that we support supply management, but see the need for real dialogue. You can also like our Facebook page and follow us on twitter @flockingoptions .

From December 12, 2012:

The Are we too Chicken? campaign was launched to raise awareness about the provincial chicken quota system. Learn more here.

Our Flocking Options Working Group believes in the quota system and we think you should too. But we also think there are some things that need to change so to support new farmers to get started in farming, to support more diversified farms, to get chicken from close by and to have more organic, pastured and sustainable options.

Look out for our campaign postcards at farmers’ markets or ask us to send you some by emailing us. The postcards can be mailed directly to the Farm Products Marketing Commission or back to us, or you can support the campaign by sending a message through the campaign’s website.
