The Greenbelt Fund has created a new series of Green Papers featuring solutions and insights on how to overcome challenges in procuring more local food.  The first installment is “Local Food Solutions: Addressing Barriers to Ontario Local Food Procurement.”

While consumers have created rapidly growing demand for local food, foodservice in the broader public sector is only beginning to respond. And even though some institutions have significantly increased their use of local food over the last few years, many in the foodservice industry are reluctant to change.

This series will highlight some of the more specific challenges in local food provision and steps needed to overcome them.
