Terroir is roughly translated to mean “sense of place.”  Like wines and champagnes, the geography, geology and climate of a place can  be expressed in the flavours and textures of the food produced there.  More and more regions in Ontario are discovering their own terroir and promoting their region as a “food destination” by bringing together local farmers and chefs to celebrate the tastes of the season.  Culinary tourism is not only a way of strengthening local food awareness and networks, but also a possible source of economic development.  Chefs play an important role in growing this awareness by highlighting local flavours with their skills.  Check out these videos to discover more about the bounty of local food festivals, celebrations, innovative entrepreneurs and chefs in Ontario.
