The Ontario Liberals are currently working on drafting a Local Food Act for the province, as promised in their election platform, to increase local food purchases. On July 31, 2012, Sustain Ontario submitted a Local Food Act Statement of Purpose with 77 endorsements, a set of Drafting Notes outlining the administrative and legislative details of the Act, and 4 backgrounders outlining specific recommendations. The Sustain Ontario team hopes to create several more backgrounders before the Act is officially tabled. All of our submissions are available on our website at Let us know what we got right and what you’d change.
