Organization: Seed to Table Location: Scarborough, Ontario

Seed to Table is an organisation platform or space where young people (14-17) can access consistent support and mentorship around food security, nutrition, media use and social justice issues. Seed to Table is a youth engagement neighbourhood-based health promotion and resilience initiative focused on youth organising and building leadership in the Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park Neighbourhood.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The volunteer program assistant will supervised by Program Director but will work and report to the Instars Youth Food and Health Program Coordinator. This position will assist in all areas of the program coordination and facilitation activities including but not limited to assisting with the planning and organising weekly program activities and youth outreach.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support Instars Youth Food and Health Program activities throughout the year
  2. Support Instars Youth Food and Health Program Coordinator with delivery, management of program activities and events.
  3. Work with Instars Youth Food and Health Program Leaders to assist with the coordination and supervision of youth group action planning activities.
  4. Assist with Instars Youth Food and Health Program outreach for events, activities and trips
  5. Assist in program / administrative support including: data entry, managing event registrations, managing attendance and parent communications.
  6. Assist youth prepare for presentations in schools, at community forums and other community events
  7. Assist in documenting and recording weekly program evaluation material
  8. Assist with program scheduling and logistics
  9. Other duties and projects as appropriate to the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with education, planning and implementation of community-based youth leadership/organising projects;
  • Working knowledge or experience in gardening , cooking , recreations , media use ,health or youth engagement or other food and health related activity
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Strong oral and written communications skills;
  • Standard PC skills (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

8 to 10 hour per week / Tuesday and Thursday/ 4 pm to 7pm/
