 Growing Orillia’s Food Future!

1378749_1412308848986621_727503609_nThe Sharing Place food bank, in partnership with Orillia Community Gardens, were awarded a grant through the Province of Ontario’s Healthy Community Partnership fund to initiate the development of food policy to promote food security within the city of Orillia. With the support of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and many other community food partners this grant has helped promote local food security and increase awareness and access to healthy food for all. Harvest Haliburton

Harvest Haliburton is a grass roots, volunteer committee that supports the development of a local sustainable food system for Haliburton County. Through networks, partnerships and collaboration, Harvest Haliburton’s role is to raise awareness, create supportive environments and local food policies that are necessary for a local sustainable food system.

– Food Production and Consumption trends for our area
– Food Access by doing GIA mapping project
– Municipal Planning Policy research and report – advocating with municipal and county government for food system support through Official Plan land use policies.

Food Security Working Group (Huntsville)
