In light of recent events in the food movement, Food Secure Canada is hosting a discussion on Thursday, May 30, Greedflation: The role of large corporations in food price inflation and what can be done about it.
The webinar will raise questions such as why profits continue to rise and how some jurisdictions are coping with these rising prices.
Jim Stanford, Economist and Director of the Centre for Future Work and the author of Economics for Everyone: A Short Guide to the Economics of Capitalism, will present data demonstrating above-normal profits in food retail and other parts of the food supply chain and how they have contributed to food price inflation and the cost of living pressures facing Canadians.
