Registration is open for the 2021 virtual Nutrition Connections Forum, Eating Re-Imagined – Inspiring change and action in the 21st century, taking place on January 28, February 4 & February 11, 2021.
More information on sessions and speakers is continually being added to the event website, which also shares these Forum Objectives:
- Provide participants the opportunity to hear from experts (i.e. researchers, policy makers, clinicians) on a diverse range of emerging food and nutrition-related topics.
- Equip participants with knowledge and training that they can apply to any professional sector.
- Allow speakers and participants to share their lived experiences and learn from one another.
January 28, 2021 – The Food Landscape & Challenges of Today
Session 1: What are the Implications of COVID-19 on the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program & Food Security?
Panelists: Alex Chesney, Registered Dietitian and farmer at Thames River Melons; Dr. Valerie Tarasuk, Professor of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto; Chris Ramsaroop, PhD(c) at Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and Organizer for Justice for Migrant Farm Workers; Paul Taylor, Executive Director of FoodShare Toronto.
Session 2: COVID-19 Happened. Now What? The Pandemic’s Legacy on our Relation with Food
Speakers: Dr. Sylvain Charlebois, Professor, Food Distribution and Policy, Faculty of Management Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University Scientific Director, Agri-Food Analytics Lab, Dalhousie University.
Session 3: Dietary Guidelines & COVID-19
Speakers: Dr. Ana Carolina Barco Leme, Post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph.
