On Thursday, February 28, 2019, we invite you to join Sustain Ontario and the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts at George Brown College for an interactive workshop focused on exploring solutions to common Farm to School challenges in Ontario.
Audience: Schools, school boards, Student Nutrition Programs, non-profits, public health, and everyone who supports and delivers Farm to School activities such as: bringing local food into schools, hands-on food literacy activities like gardening or cooking, farm tours, and engaging students in their food systems.
You’ll have a chance to:
- Learn about Farm to School models and best practices in Ontario and Canada by means of interactive discussions and presentations
- Trouble-shoot common challenges and barriers to Farm to School activities in small groups
- Explore collaborative activities and areas for continued conversation to support student health and wellness, food literacy, and Farm to School efforts in your community and across Ontario
Where: George Brown College Hospitality and Tourism Campus, Toronto, Ontario

When: Thursday, February 28, 2019, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Cost: $75 (we are offering reduced rates for those who need it)

We ask that participants register by February 1st if possible to give us an idea of numbers and to allow us to best tailor the event to participants’ needs (note that registration will still be open after this date). Upon registering you will be able to share the types of challenges and opportunities you experience, which will help us best target this learning opportunity for you.
This event is being coordinated by Sustain Ontario, the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts at George Brown College, and the Generating Success for Farm to School research project and is generously funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
