The Government of Canada has launched a new consultation on the regulatory review process, beginning with the examination of regulatory requirements and practices in 3 key sectors:

  • agri-food and aquaculture
  • health/bio-sciences
  • transportation and infrastructure

Targeted regulatory reviews, as announced in Budget 2018, will identify bottlenecks and other areas of regulation that can be improved. The reviews will also explore ways to make regulations more agile, transparent and responsive so that businesses can grow.

Stakeholder input is instrumental in providing recommendations that can help improve regulations in the first 3 key sectors.

More information about the consultation is available in the Canada Gazette, Part I, along with guiding questions for stakeholders to consider and further information on the Government of Canada’s regulatory modernization agenda.

The Government of Canada wants to hear from:

  • Canadian businesses and consumers (especially in the 3 targeted sectors)
  • Canadian civil society organizations
  • Academics
  • Canadians
