Interested in getting local food into your school or food program, but not sure where to start or where to look?
Local food maps and supporting websites can be instrumental in sourcing local food for your Farm to School program. Jennifer Payne from the Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance shared with us the websites that have been key for HFFA in particular in finding food for their food club:
Use this convenient search tool to find local Dufferin farms, area farmers’ markets, restaurants, food producers and retailers. The website allows you to search farms by category to source the specific farm fresh items you need, from apples to zucchini baked goods to yarn.
If you’re selling or sourcing Ontario food, Ontariofresh.ca offers a simple, effective way to showcase your business and connect with potential partners, or find other local products and businesses. (Customizing a profile is free!)
Check out what’s in season in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, and where you can find it at farms and markets throughout the Region of Peel with their easy-to-use online map.
Taste Local Wellington Local Food Map/Taste Real
Find locally-grown food in Guelph and Wellington County at farm stores, farmers’ markets, restaurants, retail stores and community events with this local food map and wholesale list. They also have a Local Food Toolkit to help organizations source and serve more local food.
