Canada Selected for Sustainable Beef Pilot Project

McDonald’s is embarking on a ‘sustainable’ beef pilot project that has the Canadian Cattlemen Association (CCA) excited about the prospects for the Canadian cattle market. McDonald’s Canada spokesperson for western Canada, John Gibson said “We are currently working with the [CCA] and other industry stakeholders towards an agreement on a pilot project with the goal of advancing the ongoing improvement in the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the Canadian beef value chain”. 100% of McDonald’s Canada beef is sourced from Canadian beef suppliers. There are still details to be worked out however, including the percentage of the supply chain involved and what exactly constitutes “sustainable”.
