Neonicotinoid-free seeds offered by Pioneer

Pioneer, the largest international producer of hybrid seeds, will be selling a neonicotinoid-free option of corn and soybean seeds in Canada. The company’s announced this news at the annual field day near Chatham, next to Pioneer’s Eastern Canadian headquarters.
Pioneer’s decision to offer an alternative came about as a request made by the Grain Farmers of Ontario to the Canada Seed Trade Association. According to Dave Harwood, the technical service manager at Dupont Pioneer, the neonicotiniod issue, which is linked to bee deaths, is a “less visible” issue in the U.S.
