Crackdown! is a short, creative video that takes a satirical look at what it means to raise chickens in your backyard – and become a criminal for doing so.
Join us for an exclusive preview screening of CRACKDOWN! followed by an expert panel discussion on the benefits and challenges of keeping hens in the city as part of the urban food movement. Panelists will be announced shortly.

Tickets are $5 on eventbrite and there will also be tickets available at the door for $8 (cash only).
All the proceeds are going towards financing the film and ultimately in eductaing the public about urban chicken keeping.
Prior to joining the Canadian Constitution Foundation as Executive Director, Chris Schafer was a lawyer with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in Ottawa, where his practice areas included constitutional and regulatory law.Chris holds an Honours B.A. in Political Science (Wilfrid Laurier), a Masters in Political Science (University of Western Ontario) and an LL.B. (Osgoode Hall Law School).A published author, Chris has written several studies and numerous articles on public policy and legal issues for think tanks, journals, and newspaper
Matthew Bailey-Dick works as a father of three young children, a sessional instructor (Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Waterloo) and a crisis intervention trainer (Canadian Training Institute). Matthew also serves as a coordinator and public relations officer for the Waterloo Hen Association. His daily backyard chores include feeding, watering, and egg-gathering with 10 Isa Babcock hens in downtown Waterloo.
Joe Mihevc has served as Councillor for the former City of York and the new City of Toronto for the last 21 years. His deep concern for social issues has led him to be an advocate for strong neighbourhoods, healthy communities, a clean environment, and safe streets. As a City Councillor, Joe has helped transform his area with a variety of innovative projects. These include the building of the new Artscape Wychwood Barns and Park, the construction of the Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre, the creation of Roseneath Park, promoting the TTC redevelopment on St. Clair Avenue West, and securing a home for the heritage Tollkeeper’s Cottage. Joe also oversaw the redevelopment of the Maria A. Schkuka library branch, which included the construction of more than 60 units of affordable housing. Joe is a hands-on Councillor and he believes that a healthy ward is active and engaged.
