Position Description

This is a six-week internship to be completed during the summer of 2012. The Outreach and Engagement Intern will support Sustain Ontario in reaching out to new members, creating greater engagement for existing members, and communicating to a broad public.

About Sustain Ontario

Sustain Ontario is a province-wide, cross-sectoral alliance that promotes healthy food and farming. Sustain Ontario is working towards a food system that is healthy, ecological, equitable and financially viable. We do this through collaborative research, policy development and action by addressing the intersecting issues related to healthy food and local sustainable agriculture.

Duties of the position:

  • Support the planning and implementation of local food events
  • Conduct outreach at local food festivals and events
  • Communicate about these and other community events through social media
  • Support the promotion of good food ideas videos through internet, social media, and conventional media
  • Help to document events
  • Update and help to maintain website

Wage:

$11.25 per hour for 30 hours per week

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age;
  • Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible); and
  •  Be legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
