On September 6, 2024, the Government of Canada launched the School Food Infrastructure Fund (SFIF) for community-based not-for-profit organizations involved with school food programming.

Six months later, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has selected 10 organizations to distribute the SFIF funds as grants to eligible community organizations across Canada.

The goals of these grants are to:

  • Support the purchase and installation of infrastructure and equipment that increases the capacity of community organizations to produce, process, store, and distribute food for school food programs.
  • Strengthen wider community and local food systems.
  • Help ensure that children have the nutritious and culturally relevant meals they need to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Eligible applicants must be non-profit organizations or charities that produce, process, store, and/or distribute food for school food programs.

Find links to these different SFIF application processes and their deadlines here.
