October is Farm to School Month! This year, Farm to Cafeteria Canada is celebrating with the theme Food Connects.

Food has the power to connect us to so much of the world around us, and that’s what the Food Connects theme is all about. It’s perfect for celebrating Farm to School Month, because the Farm to School Approach is all about making connections — to food and where it comes from, to hands-on learning, and to the broader community.

There are so many examples of the power of food to connect us to each other and the world around us in the great stories shared from F2CC’s Farm to School Grantees.

We hope you’ll join in the Farm to School Month celebrations and share on social media how #FoodConnects!

Through student testimonials, Chelmsford Valley Composite School’s story shows us how #FoodConnects!

Farm to School Month in Canada takes place every October, and it provides opportunities to:

  • Showcase the diversity of ways farm or local food to school activities come to life in different communities
  • Celebrate the impacts of farm to school, and the people who make it possible
  • Set the stage to explore a relevant theme for the duration of the school year
  • Encourage more school communities to get involved

We invite you to learn more on the Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) blog. Whether you’re an educator, a student, or simply a food lover, they have listed off ways for you to get involved and celebrate. And stay tuned on their website — for the rest of the school year, F2CC will be hosting conversations and sharing resources and stories inspired by Food Connects.
