Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) has announced the recipients of the fourth round of Farm to School Canada Grants, which includes five new schools in Ontario!
Delivered in partnership with the Whole Kids Foundation, the 2022 grants will deliver a total of $320,800 directly to 33 schools across 9 provinces and 1 territory.
From September 2022 – June 2024, these schools will:
- Implement and grow a flexible meal service that allows students to create their own plates and build their own bowls
- Engage students in growing, harvesting, cooking, preserving and serving healthy food at school that is as locally sourced as possible
- Strengthen school and community connections to the local food system
The F2CC blog explains that these new grantee schools will engage students in their local food systems in a variety of ways, from growing food in gardens and greenhouses, to establishing a local food service program in the school. The schools will also connect, share and learn with each other, through support from F2CC and regional partners.
Sustain is excited to continue supporting the Ontario grantee schools.
