The federal government, through a FedNor investment, has announced $407, 195 of funding to support agricultural innovation and expansion in Northern Ontario.

The investment will go towards the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance, to enable business expansion, innovation, exports, job creation, and the growth of the agricultural sector.

NOFIA has explained that the region is vast and some of the funding will be used to bridge geographical challenges, from transportation to land development.

Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, said the funding will help farmers and agri-food producers network to share information and resources to become stronger.

“It will give many opportunities to the sector to businesses and co-ops and the network of farmers in the region so they can have the possibility to work together to count on each other to develop new technologies to innovate in order to be more productive,” said Minister Bibeau.
