Just Food, Ottawa Food Policy Council and l’Atelier d’innovation sociale Mauril-Bélanger are hosting a virtual event, Youth for a Better Food System: Advocating for Food Justice in Ottawa, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET.

The online event will bring together youth (15-30 years old) to explore how to collectively advocate for food justice and better food policies for all Ottawa residents.

Participants will hear from speakers who are leading work at the intersections of food, climate change, farming, and livelihoods, and how they are enacting change at the municipal level. Presentations will be followed by brainstorming sessions, with a view to initiate an agenda for youth food advocacy, and lay the building blocks for a new Ottawa Youth Food Policy Council, both independent and connected to the existing Ottawa Food Policy Council.

Speakers: Nika Moeini (Organizer, Youth Climate Save Canada), Rav (Founder & farmer at Shade of Miti and former Co-Chair of the Food Secure Canada Youth Caucus), Rossen Lee (Networking Co-Lead at Toronto Youth Food Policy Council); Facilitators: Carly Hayes (Ottawa Food Policy Council Member), Amélie Neault (administrative coordinator at the Atelier, Social Innovation Workshop).

Learn more about the event and speakers, and register to attend, on the Ottawa Food Policy Council website.
